Daily brushing and using floss or interdental brushes are very important in the prevention of dental plaque build up, the primary cause of tooth decay. To supplement these preventive measures, a thin coat of resin material can be applied on the biting surfaces especially permanent teeth in children. This coating creates a barrier between your teeth and the bacteria that cause dental decay.

The fissure sealant  procedure is easy and painless, and lasts for many years. The teeth are cleaned and the sealant is applied and set with a blue light. Generally no injections are necessary.

The use of fissure sealants is a preventive measure to keep teeth healthy and is effective in reducing the need for fillings and expensive future dental treatment.
